Accessibility Policy

We want everyone who visits this website to feel welcome and be able to use it easily.

What are we doing

To help us make this website a positive place for everyone, we've been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.

The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We’ve chosen Level AA as the target.

We have developed it following best practice, including:

  • using valid semantic HTML5 and ARIA tags, so it can easily be used by people using assistive technology such as screenreaders;
  • taking into account colour contrast to conform to at least WCAG AAA standard;
  • text alternatives for non-decorative images;
  • section headings are used to organise the content;
  • focused elements are clearly highlighted;
  • font size, font legibility, plain English and other considerations to make reading straightforward; and
  • designed to be mobile friendly, and work across a range of browsers, screen sizes and devices.

Keyboard controls

The site is designed to be easy to navigate using a keyboard. For most browsers the following keys work:

  • 'Tab' key to focus on the next link
  • 'Shift' + 'Tab' to focus on the previous link
  • 'Enter' to activate the currently selected link

The site is designed to allow you to use your browser's "zoom" feature to make content larger.

Changing the colour and font of the display

This site does not currently offer alternate colour schemes, however, some browsers allow you to override website fonts and colour settings. (How to do this in Firefox and Internet Explorer).

How are we doing?

We believe we've achieved our goal of Level AA accessibility. We monitor the website regularly to maintain this, but if you do find any problems, or require assistance in making your application please get in touch by emailing
